In 1966 the big-block received larger cylinder bores and enlarged to the 427 cubic inch displacement. There were two horsepower levels 390 or 425. I think I would go with the 424 horsepower.

1967 was they year that the 427 became an icon. With the introduction of the L71 the horsepower rating was now 435. A few 1967 Corvettes had the L88 code and they had a horsepower rating of 430.

By 1967, the Corvette’s 427 engine was a legend in its own time and was offered with a unique induction system that featured an inline trio of two-barrel carburetors. Known as the “L71″ (its order code), it was characterized by a large, chrome triangular air cleaner assembly. It was rated at 435 gross horsepower (324 kW). The ’67 big-block Corvettes were easily distinguished from their small-block brethren by a raised “stinger” hood. The L88 inhaled through a single four-barrel carburetor opposed to the L71′s three two-barrels. The triple-carburetor induction system was still available, however, as the Corvette was offered with both the L88 and L71 versions of the 427.

Hello every one. Kevin has very kindly invited me to write a few words about our 1973 Corvette Stingray on his Blog site @ Net Corvettes. We have owned this Corvette for 10 years. It was imported to New Zealand from Florida. A matching numbers big block 454 – Manual four speed, running 3.7 ratio gears. We modified the motor with low compression heads, Crane blower cam and solid lifters, Billet 250 supercharger running at six pounds of boost, sitting on top is twin 600 Edelbrock carbs, Big block headers running into four inch side pipes that pump out 500 Horsepower, and the most beautiful sound at 5000 rpm !!! Running Micky Thompson tires that really suit this classic car. Paint is the final job to do, black again of coarse. We drive our “baby” often and at present it has this used look. Fuel … averages at two and a half miles to the gallon. 98 Octane is two dollars a litre in N Z. A small price to pay for the thrills and total enjoyment we experience from this amazing American Muscle Car
Classic.

Blue Ridge Corvette Club, is the home of Corvette enthusiasts in the Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro areas. Founded in 1977, the Blue Ridge Corvette Club is an active club drawing over 100 members with approximately 150 cars from the years 1954 and up. Our members share a common interest in “America’s Favorite Sports Car”, the Corvette.

At least once a month the club organizes a tour, dinner, picnic, or afternoon cruise. The Blue Ridge Corvette Club participates or helps organize two popular Crusie-In type events locally. Many of our members travel regularly to car-shows and participate in Caravans, etc. Their newsletter is published monthly online and is delivered by e-mail or US Mail at the members request.

Club meetings are held once a month at different locations in the Shenandoah Valley. Many of the events and meetings are hosted at Eavers Classic Car Museum Eavers in Stuarts Draft, VA.

4-statesvettes club

A small group of dedicated Corvette enthusiast started the 4-State Vettes club in the summer of 2001. This club is headquartered in Joplin, Missouri, centrally located to the 4-state area of Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Our club membership includes members from all four states.

Starting out with just a handful of Corvettes, we now have nearly 50 Corvettes in our club and nearly 100 people. Our club has cars from the C-1′s to the C-6′s. All Six Corvette Generations are represented within the club.

Our activities include a wide range of activities ranging from NCCC Sanctioned Autocross to Drag Racing at MOKAN Dragway to a club picnic at Table Rock Lake.  Almost every weekend (weather permitting) offers a different activity to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Corvette owners.

We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Granny Shaffer’s Joplin, MO at 7 p.m.  Come and enjoy a meal with us beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Lone Star Corvette Club

The Lone Star Corvette Club of Dallas started in 1982 with a dozen or so people meeting in the founder’s garage. With a diverse membership of over 1200, they have one thing in common:  passion for America’s sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette.

The Largest Corvette Club in Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Vettes is one of the largest Corvette clubs in the Tampa Bay area and host of the Ultimate Corvette Party. The club’s slogan is “Friendship Building a Legend.”

This club doesn’t endorse buying a Corvette to store it away hoping it will increase in value sometime in the future. These cars are meant to be driven, not stored. We are definitely a cruising club.

If you have a Corvette or are planning on getting one, come to one of their meetings and see what they are all about. Club meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month starting promptly at 7:00pm at Ferman Chevrolet.
